Postcard club, maybe? You could have everyone submit their addresses in a Google form and send out a few postcards every so often, maybe with your art prints on the front.
Discord/Book Club there would maybe be a good start for connection. Different channels for books, music/movies, art, photography, etc. I believe you can host voice/video meetings there too
I think your ideas of connecting are great and I recommend only using social media as much as you mentally can it can be draining even with the rewards🫶 I’m super excited for your book!
Sooo dope truly. Seconding the postcard club idea! I’m fond of connecting with an actual community and I’ve set to do similar things recently. There are probably so many brilliant people I could get inspired from which I haven’t established a connection with yet!
I am really late to the conversation, but I know discord is a good way to accomplish all the things that you want. There’s voice channels and then there’s text channels we can talk to you and to each other.
I love the idea of connecting with us. It always makes the reading more personal. So thank you for that. I've already pre-ordered through amazon....can't wait for these next few months!
I really hope your book will be available for a while, I don’t have the funds to support you and buy you but I’m so interested in your art, if you ever like sharing one or two poems I’d very much like it. Beside that, I loved the postcard idea I saw in the comments !
I see a few people have already suggested Discord, and that was my first thought as well, but as I began typing to suggest it as well I realized that it has some downsides for your application.
I mean, it’s got a LOT of cool capabilities, and I think an ongoing chat room could be really cool because it would continue to exist even between the times that you set aside to be actively engaging. Also allows you to be just an observer when you want to, just sit back and read what the rest of us discuss and share. You could even have a channel for everyone involved to share their writings and art as well.
However, the problem with it would be making sure the people in the server are, for lack of better wording… well-behaved lol we seem to have a pretty good group here on substack but inappropriate or offensive behavior is always a risk in chat rooms, so there would need to be rules (whatever aligns with what you want for your space) that are enforced.. which takes time and energy from either you or someone you trust to moderate it. And those risks and pains of owning/running a Discord server increase as the number of members increase.
I sadly won't ask for Art because I live in Brazil. Usually these giveaways end up being exclusively for North America and Europe. If that's the case, can you please disclose that? It's just a little heartbreaking to try participating in giveaways where you were never actually included. 🤍

I’m obsessed with this idea. A postcard club would be so cool. It would kind of be like receiving a letter from your penpal.
This is such a cool idea. I might have to steal it in the future :D

You think you're cool calm and collected, but inside, you're a beast just like everyone else. Happy new years! <3 :)
